March Poem

When I Love Spring

when I love spring

geese take off on frothy runways for the north

tuxedoed mallards tow mates through v-shaped water

dotted clouds of dragonflies flurry over lily pads

turtles untuck sleeping noses, rise to feast

icy grey-ghost branches show soft nubs

quiver like an infant’s hands wake in morning sun
